Track Night at Carn Brea: Pushing the Pace Together
This evening saw a brilliant turnout as Carn Runners hit the track at Carn Brea Leisure Centre for a structured speed session that brought something different – and a little bit spicy – to our usual training routine.
The session was well-balanced, designed to build both stamina and speed, with runners working in intervals to test their limits while supporting each other around every lap.
Here’s what the session looked like:
- 5-minute warm-up to get the legs moving and lungs ready
- 2 sets of 90 seconds at 70% effort, followed by 90 seconds of gentle recovery
- 4 sets of 60 seconds at 80%, each with 60 seconds of recovery
- 4 sets of 30 seconds at 90%, with 30 seconds to recover between bursts
- Repeat the full interval block once more
- Finish with a 5-minute cool down to bring everything back down nice and easy
It was fantastic to see so many members giving it their all. The session was tough but manageable, and everyone appreciated the variety and structure.
From newer members finding their rhythm to seasoned runners pushing themselves on the final intervals, the atmosphere was full of encouragement and determination.
Thanks to everyone who came along – and a special shout to those stepping onto the track for the first time. This kind of session shows just how powerful a bit of structure and a lot of team spirit can be.
Here’s to more track nights in the future.
