On Sunday, 9th March 2025, several members of Carn Runners participated in the Granite Way 20-mile race, an event renowned for its scenic route along the Granite Way cycle path in Devon. This race offers participants a unique opportunity to experience the stunning landscapes surrounding Okehampton, making it a favourite among long-distance runners.
Janet Watson’s Outstanding Achievement
We are thrilled to congratulate Janet Watson, who secured first place in her age group. Her dedication to training and unwavering commitment have culminated in this well-deserved accolade, bringing pride to the entire Carn Runners community.
Wishing Tony a Speedy Recovery
During the race, our fellow runner Tony experienced a fall that required medical attention, including assistance from paramedics and a subsequent visit to Treliske Hospital. We are relieved to report that Tony is now recuperating at home. The entire Carn Runners family extends heartfelt wishes for his swift and full recovery. As one member aptly put it, “Our thoughts are with Tony as he had a tumble involving the Paramedics and a trip to Treliske, I believe he is now home again – we wish you a speedy (pun intended) recovery Tony!”
Looking Ahead
The Granite Way 20-mile race has once again highlighted the resilience and camaraderie that define Carn Runners. As we celebrate Janet’s remarkable performance and support Tony during his recovery, we remain committed to fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for all our members. We look forward to many more events where we can challenge ourselves and uplift each other.
