On Sunday, 2nd March 2025, Carn Runners took on the formidable Looe 10 Miler, affectionately dubbed the “Hillish & Hellish” race—and for good reason. The challenging course, renowned for its relentless hills and stunning coastal views, lived up to its reputation, testing the mettle of all participants.

Race Overview

Organised by the Looe Pioneers Running Club, the Looe 10 Miler is a key fixture in the Cornish Grand Prix series. The route winds through West Looe, extends out onto the coastal road to Talland, and loops around the Killigarth and Porthallow areas before returning to the finish. Participants navigate a series of demanding ascents and descents, making it both a physically taxing and rewarding experience.

Carn Runners’ Achievements

Our club members showcased remarkable resilience and athleticism:

  • Tommy secured 1st place in his age group, demonstrating exceptional prowess on the hilly terrain.
  • Glynn and Jan W each achieved 3rd place in their respective age categories, highlighting their consistent dedication and training.
  • Antony, Bex’s, Janet R and Vicky all represented Carn Runners admirably, contributing to the club’s strong presence at the event. Congratulations all!

Reflecting on the race, one member aptly remarked, “Hillish & Hellish—they weren’t lying!” This sentiment encapsulates the challenging nature of the course and the sense of accomplishment felt upon completion.
