Carn Runners’ Festive Run to Mousehole Christmas Lights

Christmas run at Mousehole

On 2nd January 2025, Carn Runners embraced the holiday spirit with a delightful social run to the renowned Mousehole Christmas Lights. Originally planned for December, the event was rescheduled, allowing members to kick off the New Year with festive cheer.

A Scenic Evening Run

The group set off in the early evening, following a picturesque route that led them through winding Cornish lanes to the charming village of Mousehole. Known for its narrow streets and historic harbour, Mousehole transforms each year into a winter wonderland, attracting visitors from near and far.

Experiencing the Illuminations

Upon arrival, runners were greeted by the mesmerising display of the Mousehole Harbour Lights. Since 1963, the village has been adorned with an array of illuminations inspired by Cornwall’s maritime heritage, including sea serpents, sailing ships, and whales, all beautifully reflected in the harbour waters. The lights are traditionally switched on in mid-December and shine brightly until early January, offering a festive spectacle for all who visit.

Community and Festivity

After taking in the enchanting lights, members gathered at a local pub for drinks and food. The run not only provided an opportunity to appreciate the festive displays but also reinforced the camaraderie and community spirit that define Carn Runners.

Looking Ahead

The success of the Mousehole Christmas Lights run has inspired plans for future social events that combine physical activity with local cultural experiences. As the club moves forward into the new year, members eagerly anticipate more adventures that celebrate both fitness and the rich traditions of Cornwall.
