Carn Runners Tackle the Muddy Mayhill Massacre

Carn Runners Tackle the Muddy Mayhill Massacre

On Saturday, February 1st, 2025, Janet and Sarah ventured to Huntley, Gloucestershire, to participate in the renowned Mayhill Massacre. This formidable 8-mile cross-country race is celebrated for its challenging terrain, featuring steep ascents, notably the arduous climb up Mayhill, and treacherously muddy trails.

The race commenced at Leaf Creative, leading participants through dense woodlands and open fields before the demanding ascent. Upon reaching the summit, runners were rewarded with panoramic views of the Gloucestershire countryside, a brief respite before navigating the slippery descent. The combination of elevation changes and saturated ground conditions tested the endurance and agility of all involved.

Carn Runners showcased exceptional determination and team spirit throughout the event. Reflecting on the experience, Janet remarked, “Great core and leg strength training”

Participation in events like the Mayhill Massacre underscores Carn Runners’ commitment to embracing challenging races and fostering a supportive community for runners of all abilities. Congratulations to all who took part, exemplifying the resilience and enthusiasm that define our club.
